I am a doctoral student in Art Education at the University of Missouri (MU) in Columbia, Missouri, maintaining both graduate research and teaching assistantships. I am also a practicing artist working in fibers, sculpture, and collage. In addition to studying and making art, I have taught a combination of K-8 art for over 11 years.
Four years ago, I earned my MA in Art Education from the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA). In 2000, I graduated from Colorado State University with a BFA (fibers concentration) and Teacher Certification (Art Education). I had the opportunity to live abroad in Castiglion Fiorentino, Italy, and in Oldenburg, Germany, while studying visual art, art history, and foreign languages.
Throughout my K-12 teaching career, I've worked with students while sponsoring the Visual Art Showcase, Anime and Manga Club, and Marketing Mustangs. In addition, I've held several visual art leadership roles, including: Cross-Division Research Committee Representative, Vertical Team Leader, Curriculum Coach, and Cooperating Teacher. Finally, I've enjoyed the challenges associated with presenting at both state and at national art education conventions and conferences.
